Build and order your own minifigure with kids

Designing a minifigure is a good rainy-day activity: the child picks the parts, you turn the figure on screen, and only then do the parents order the real parts.

What you need

All you need is a browser. There is no account and no sign-in, and your figures stay saved in this browser, not on a server.

Create Your Minifig does not sell parts. You buy later from a shop, and the parents take care of that.

Step by step

  1. Look under Ideas for a theme world the child likes, or start directly in the Builder.
  2. The child chooses a head. The search understands German words such as “Pirat”, “Ritter”, “Roboter”, “Wikinger” or “Hexe”, and of course English ones such as “pirate” or “knight”.
  3. Then pick headwear, torso, legs and accessory one after the other. The tabs are Heads, Headwear, Torsos, Legs and Accessories.
  4. Turn the figure in the 3D preview: drag with a finger or the mouse, or tap the views Three-quarter, Front and Back.
  5. Give the figure a name in the figure panel (“Your figure”).
  6. Use “Save to collection” to keep the figure. Up to six figures fit side by side on a playground in the collection.
  7. When the figure is done, the parents open “Buy parts”, choose the color for parts that come in several colors and download the parts list for the shop.

Ideas for more fun

  • Draw the figure and make up a story for it.
  • Build a whole group: a pirate crew, a fire crew or the family.
  • Every family member designs a figure, then you put them all on one playground.
  • When the real parts arrive, the child finds them with the preview on the screen and snaps the figure together themselves.

What the parents take care of

Order, payment and delivery address are for adults. Children should not order from a shop themselves.

Tell the child beforehand that it takes a while. If the parts come from several shops, they do not arrive together. Which option fits your figure is explained in the guide “Order minifigure parts”.

If a part is not available

Some parts, especially printed or older ones, are not available everywhere. Create Your Minifig does not state availability; it is shown in the shop. Replace the part in the Builder with a similar one and create the parts list again. That is also a good moment to change the figure once more.

Safety

Minifigures and their parts are small parts. They are not for children under three. Snap the figure together as a team and put loose parts away afterwards.
