Personalized minifigure as a Christmas gift: how to do it
Giving a minifigure that suits the person for Christmas is more personal than a standard set. What matters is ordering the parts early enough and knowing what “personalized” means here.
What “personalized” means here
You choose from real parts: head, headwear, torso, legs and accessory. That makes a figure that suits the person you give it to, for example through job, hobby, favorite theme or hair color.
A name or a photo cannot be printed on it. Create Your Minifig does not offer individual printing, and the parts have their fixed prints. Write the name on a card, ideally the one you gave the figure in the Builder.
Timeline for the holidays
- Assemble the figure early and save it to your collection. Then you can still change it calmly.
- Order the parts with plenty of lead time. How long a parcel takes depends on the shop and is not stated in Create Your Minifig.
- If the parts come from several shops, they do not arrive together. Expect several parcels.
- Snap the figure together when the parts arrive and check that everything holds. The 3D preview checks fit only digitally.
- Wrap the gift only when the figure is complete and checked.
Which figure?
- The person's job or hobby. Ideas are in the guide “Minifigure by profession or hobby”.
- A theme the person likes: pirates, castle, space, fire rescue and eight more theme worlds under Ideas.
- A group for the family: in the collection, up to six figures fit on one playground.
- For children, read the guide “Minifigure gift for kids” first.
Parts instead of a parcel: five days, five parts
A figure has five parts: head, headwear, torso, legs and accessory. You can give one part each day before the holiday. On the last day the person snaps the figure together themselves. With children, an adult should be there.
If something does not arrive in time
Print the 3D preview of the figure as a picture, or take a screenshot, and put it under the tree with a card: “Your figure is on its way.” That way the person has something in hand and the surprise stays.
Wrap and keep
- Put the assembled figure in a small box or bag and add the card with the name.
- For adults a base or a small display case is a good fit. You will find a selection below this guide.
Safety
Minifigures and their parts are small parts. They are not for children under three.
